Abstract:

To provide at a low cost a compact optical device which has excellent optical characteristics and high reliability by joining optical elements without using an adhesive.

In an optical device in which at least one face of a magnetic garnet is joined with a polarizer without using an adhesive and which functions by passing light through the joined plane, the optical device is characterized by the fact that the thickness t2 (m) of the polarizer is 2×10-5≤t2≤3×10-4 and the thickness t2 (m) of the polarizer is 2×10-5≤t2≤2×10-4, in particular, in the case where the relation between the linear expansion coefficient α1(/°C) of the magnetic garnet and the linear expansion coefficient α2(/°C) of the polarizer is α1-α2>2×10-6.
