Abstract:
To solve a problem that time is required for access in an optical disc in which information layers of a plurality of different optical disc standards are multilayered on a single disc.SOLUTION: The optical disk is provided with a BD layer as a first data layer having a management area in a circumferential track scanned by a first laser beam. The management area includes: data indicating presence/absence of a second data layer scanned by a second laser beam having a longer wavelength than the first laser beam; and data indicating presence/absence of a third data layer scanned by a third laser beam having a wavelength longer than the second laser beam; respectively in the form of 2 bits. When the second data layer is absent, the presence/absence of the second data layer is indicated by the data 00 in 2 bits. When the third information layer is not present, the presence/absence of the third data layer is indicated by the data 00 in 2 bits.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
