Abstract:
To provide an optical discrimination device and method capable of discriminating various optical disks which have been loaded on an information recording and reproducing device with high accuracy.
In this optical disk discriminating device and method, light to be obtained from an optical disk by irradiating the optical disk with laser from an LD (Laser Diode) 101 for a CD (Compact Disk) are detected by a PD (Photo Detector) 104 for CD and a PD 105 for CD or a PD 106 for HD (High Definition)-DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) and the kind of a loaded optical disk is discriminated based on these detection results.
