Abstract:
To quantitatively evaluate reproduction performance of an optical disk drive.
Alternative recording is allowed in a spare area during data recording by forming a defect 12 in a data area of an optical disk 10 for evaluation. The defect is formed in units of clusters, and formed by mixing at least, any two patterns among a first pattern formed by turns for each cluster, a second pattern formed of continuous clusters, and a third pattern formed of a specific part of an optical disk for each track or for each several tracks. Reproduction performance accompanied by seek operation of a defective area is evaluated by reproducing this optical disk for evaluation.
