Abstract:
To provide an optical element having a surface protective film which has good water repellency, stainproofness, and scratch resistance and can be secondarily processed (cut) without any problems at all by the method similar to that heretofore.
The optical element is provided with a surface protective film 18 on an inorganic optical thin-film 16 formed on an optical base material 10. The film 18 is formed by applying a surface protecting agent consisting of a fluorine-based silane compound having silyl group reacting with a fluorine-modified organic group as the chief material.
