Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the blow off of a resin from the boundary of an optical fiber and ferrule at the end face and to obtain a good transmission characteristic by coating at least this boundary. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 2 is fixed by the resin 3 into the cylindrical ferrule 1, by which a bypass 4 arriving at the part of the resin 3 from the outside surface of the ferrule 1 is formed. The coating film 5 is formed by coating the entire surface, exclusive of the core 7, of the surface polished perpendicularly to the optical fiber or at a small angle from the perpendicular with an opaque compd. having lower reflection at 1mum thickness. The blow off of the resin from the boundary between the optical fiber 2 and the ferrule 1 is suppressed by the coating film 5 and the expanded resin overflows to the bypass 4 even if the resin 3 is expanded by the heat generated by YAG welding. The light is prevented as the coating film 5 exists at the end face even if the light tends to advance into the clad 6.
