Abstract:
To suppress an expansion in intervals between optical fiber ribbons due to fusion-splicing when using two or more optical fiber ribbons stacking one on top of another.SOLUTION: An optical fiber fusion-splicing method involves splicing each other by fusion a first and a second optical fiber ribbon group in which two or more optical fiber ribbons 31, 33, each including a plurality of optical fibers 20 arrayed in one direction, are stacked one on top of another, the method including a step of repeating, as many times as the number of optical fiber ribbons, a first step for fusion-bonding one end of one optical fiber ribbon included in the first optical fiber ribbon group and one end of one optical fiber ribbon included in the second optical fiber ribbon group to each other, and a second step for covering the fusion-spliced parts 31c, 33c formed by fusion-bonding with protective sleeves 31d, 33d. To ensure that the protective sleeves do not overlap each other, the fusion-spliced positions of two or more optical fiber ribbons are shifted from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
