To provide an optical film in which a cleaning means is elaborated in a serial production of an optical film, thereby vertical vibration phenomenon of an endless belt is made as small as possible, conveying of a stable belt is enabled, and expression of a horizontal step failure of a film surface by passage of time is alleviated, thereby continuous and stable high productivity of an optical film excellent in transparency and planarity is enabled, and consequently requirement of a change into a thin film, broadening, and quality improvement of a protective film for a polarizing plate or the like in recent years can be met, and to provide a manufacturing method and a manufacturing apparatus of the film, a polarizing plate using the optical film, and a display unit.
In the manufacturing method of an optical film by a solution casting film making method, atmospheric pressure plasma or excimer UV is irradiated on a rear surface of an endless belt which carries out rotary drive and/or a roll surface adjacent to the rear surface and/or a roll drum surface adjacent to the rear surface, thereby high energy surface treatment is performed, and deposits such as a plasticizer or the like are eliminated.
