Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film and a method for manufacturing the optical film, which has an excellent appearance of a film roll and can be used as an optical film having desired retardation, moisture dependence of the desired retardation and small dimensional change for a polarizing plate or a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a polarizing plate using the optical film, suppressing peeling or generation of unevenness in stripes like a record and curling, and to provide a liquid crystal panel or a liquid crystal display device that suppresses generation of unevenness of light on a display surface when observed in a frontal or oblique direction.SOLUTION: An optical film includes one or more kinds of additives and cellulose ester. Total content of the additives (Ct mass% with respect to the cellulose ester) and film thickness (d μm) satisfy relationship of Ct<30 and Ct/d≥0.375. When the optical film is treated at 60°C and 90% relative humidity (RH) for 24 hours, the optical film shows a dimensional change rate of 3% or less. The dimensional change rate is an absolute value of a value obtained by dividing dimensional change when the optical film is left standing under conditions of 60°C and 90% RH for 24 hours, by initial length of the film.SELECTED DRAWING: None
