PURPOSE: To enhance the durability of the recording layers of write-once optical information recording medium which can execute recording and reproducing by a laser beam and to prolong the life thereof by coating the Te-based recording layers formed on substrates consisting of a polycarbonate resin, etc., with protective layers consisting of a polycarbonate resin.
CONSTITUTION: The Te-based recording layers 2 are formed on the transparent substrates 1 consisting of glass, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate, etc. The protective layers 3 of 0.5μm are then formed thereon by spin coating with a 1, 2-dichloroethane soln. contg. a thermoplastic resin, for example, 10wt.% polycarbonate resin, which is stable over a long period of time under use conditions and storage conditions and is dissolved by a laser beam for recording. An inner peripheral spacer 4 and outer peripheral spacer 5 are stuck to the peripheral edges of the protective layers 3 by disposing the recording layers 2 formed on the substrates 1 on the inner side. The flow of the outdoor air to the recording layers 2 is maintained in such a manner, the durability of the recording layers 2 is improved thereby.
