Title:
OPTICAL MATRIX SWITCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5825605
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To selectively obtain optical connections between plural waveguides which is long enough to drive a driving shaft.

CONSTITUTION: Driving shafts 26 which drive endless belts 32 constituting operating bodies Gi are driven to select desired one of route selection plates Si1W Si5 through a projection 33 as an operating element 31 provided to some endless belt 32; only the selected one route selection plate (Sia) is set at the 1st position where a light beam on the 1st line LXi is reflected onto the 2nd line LYa, or reversely, and other unselected route selection plate are set at the 2nd position where the light beam on the 1st line LXi is transmitted onto the 1st line LXi and also transmitted individually onto lines among the 2nd lines LY1WLY5 other than the line LYa. Thus, optical connections between optical waveguides AX1 and AY2, AX2 and AY3, AX3 and AY1, and AX4 and AY5 are obtained respectively.
