To provide an optical module that prevents displacement of a photoelectric transducer with respect to a lens or an optical fiber without reducing a light amount of outgoing or incident light of the photoelectric transducer.
The optical module is composed of a package 2 having an opening whose upper part is opened, a sealing member 4 which has a light transmitting opening 18 for inputting/outputting an optical signal while covering the opening of the package 2, and a light transmitting member 19 that becomes a path for the optical signal while sealing the light transmitting opening 18. A circuit substrate 3 with a circuit pattern 10 formed on its rear face is stored in the package 2. The photoelectric transducers 11, 12 are mounted onto the circuit pattern 10 on the rear face of the circuit substrate 3. A taper-shaped optical-path hole 14 with its diameter increased from the rear-face side to the surface side of the substrate is formed in the circuit substrate 3.
