PURPOSE: To prevent a variation of a read position in case of converting a magnification by providing a rotation supporting point so as to be orthogonal to the vicinity of a principal point of a reducing lens on an optical axis and in the direction parallel to a read line, and supporting the reducing lens and an optical read element so as to be rotatable centering around the rotation supporting point.
CONSTITUTION: A lens holder 29 for supporting a zoom lens 20 is supported by a supporting base 31 through right and left supporting shafts 30, 30. The supporting shafts 30, 30 are placed so as to be orthogonal to an optical axis of the lens in the vicinity of a principal point position in case a magnification of the lens 20 is N, and also in parallel to the read line direction. The supporting base 31 is fixed to a substrate 32, and a supporting frame 33 is installed to the substrate 32 through a screw 34. A holder 29 and a printed board 9 are fixed to the supporting frame 33, and a read element 8 is fixed to the board 9. The screw 34 is fixed to the substrate 32 through an L-shaped supporting plate 33a pierced on the side face of the supporting frame 33, and a spring 35 is installed elastically between the supporting plate 33a and the substrate 32. In this way, when converting a magnification, a read position is not varied, and it can be prevented that information of a read picture is omitted.
