CONSTITUTION: The above player consists of an opto-electric converting means 15 having light receiving plane divided into center area and peripheral area, amplifying means 16, 17, 18 which amplifies the output, adding means 19 which adds output from amplifiers, discriminating means to discriminate the type of the recording medium, and adjusting means to adjust the sensitivity of the signal system including the opto-electric converting means according to the discrimination. Even when the wavelength of laser light for reading the optical recording medium is different from the wavelength specified to the recording medium, reproduced signals having little intermodulation can be obtd.
