Title:
OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0451235
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a novel optical recording medium by melting a separating layer contg. a light absorbing dyestuff by irradiation with light, mixing a donor layer with an acceptor layer, developing a color, modulating light from a reflecting layer and carrying out recording.

CONSTITUTION: Layers separately contg. a donor compd. and an acceptor compd. forming a charge-transfer complex having light absorption to light for reproducing a record are kept in a separate state with a separating layer contg. a compd. having light absorption to light for recording in an optical recording medium before recording. In this state, the charge-transfer complex is not formed, light for reproduction is hardly absorbed, most of the light is reflected by a reflecting layer and high reflectance is rendered. When the optical recording medium is irradiated with light for recording, the separating layer 300 is heated and melted and part of the donor layer is mixed with part of the acceptor layer. The charge-transfer complex having light absorption to light for reproduction is formed in the resulting mixed region 700. The reflectance of this region 700 is reduced and information is written in the medium.
