Abstract:
PURPOSE: To restrict optical leakages becoming the cause of crosstalk by making a plane on which an input optical waveguide is existing and a plane on which an output optical waveguide is existing a double-layered structure and making the input optical waveguide and the output optical waveguide cross in three dimensions.
CONSTITUTION: The input optical waveguide 1 having a straight line shape and the output optical waveguide 2 having a stright line shape are made to be crossed in three dimensions and optically separated input optical waveguide 1 and output optical waveguide 2 are connected by a connecting optical waveguide 3. Then, as a method switching an ON state and an OFF state, the changing of the optical coupling state between the input optical waveguide 1 and the output optical waveguide 2 of the connecting optical waveguide 3 is performed by a mechanical movement or by the pouring and the discharging of liquid state derivative material to a waveguide shaped cavity, Thus, the loss by the diffractions of optical signals at the crossing part is suppressed and losses of optical signals propagating both optical waveguides 1, 2 are made small, crosstalk per a unit switch is suppressed to ≤60dB.
