Abstract:
To reduce labor for determining a type of an optical fiber provided between nodes.SOLUTION: An optical transmission system comprises a first optical node, a second optical node, and an optical fiber provided between the first optical node and the second optical node. The first optical node comprises a signal generation unit and a transmission optical circuit. The signal generation unit generates an optical signal having a plurality of wavelength channels and an idle channel. The transmission optical circuit outputs to the optical fiber the optical signal generated by the signal generation unit. The second optical node comprises an optical channel monitor that measures a reception power of each channel of an optical signal received via the optical fiber. The first optical node or the second optical node further comprises a determination unit that determines a type of the optical fiber on the basis of the reception power of the idle channel measured by the optical channel monitor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
