To provide a small sized optical transmitter-receiver wherein an interval between a light emitting element and a light receiving element is narrowed and also to provide structure wherein a stable operation is realized even in a region exceeding 1 Gbps.
The optical transmitter-receiver 1 is provided with a receiving sub-module 4, a transmitting sub-module 2 and a housing 6 for housing these. The receiving sub-module 4 is provided with a receiving electronic circuit substrate 47 in which the light receiving element for receiving optical signals and an electronic circuit for processing output signals from the light receiving element are formed. The transmitting sub-module 2 is provided with a transmitting electronic circuit substrate 27 in which a light emitting element for transmitting optical signals and an electronic circuit for processing input signals to the light emitting element are formed. The housing 6 is provided with a receptacle 61 into which an optical connector accepting a receiving optical fiber and a transmitting optical fiber is fitted and also the receiving sub-module 4 and the transmitting sub-module 2 are attached to the housing. The receiving electronic circuit substrate 47 and the transmitting electronic circuit substrate 27 are oppositely arranged.
