Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide having a clad film with good embedding characteristic for a narrow space between cores while decreasing the loss due to dependence on polarized light or excess loss, and to provide a producing method of the optical waveguide.
SOLUTION: A porous glass film is formed as divided into two parts of a lower porous glass film and an upper porous glass film. After the lower porous glass film is formed and sintered, the upper porous glass film is formed and sintered. Namely, the clad 105 is formed as a multilayered structure of two or more layers to decrease the loss due to dependency on polarized light or excess loss, and embedding characteristic for a narrow space between cores 102 can be improved.
