Abstract:

To provide an organic EL display device, capable of displaying images with no unevenness of luminance at pixel groups when the images are displayed on the two pixel groups, and a driving method thereof.

A driver IC 12 controls lighting time of organic EL pixels 13 and 14 so that a product of a current density (=driving current/pixel area) flowing through the organic EL pixels 13 and 14 and the light time of the organic EL pixels 13 and 14 becomes constant. Thus, even when there is a difference in pixel area between the organic EL pixel 13 of a dot display unit 7 and the organic EL pixel 14 of a segment display unit 8, display luminance of the organic EL pixels 13 and 14 is made uniform, and an image is displayed without any unevenness of luminance between the dot display unit 7 and the segment display unit 8.
