To provide an organic waste decomposition method and an apparatus therefor optimally keeping propagation environment of decomposition microorganisms for organic waste, with little consumption of a ligneous medium, and completely eliminating organic waste residue.
In this organic waste decomposition method, the porous ligneous medium allowing propagation and fixing of the decomposition microorganisms and the organic waste residue are contained in an agitation drum, a barrel of the drum is rotated to raise and reversely agitate a mixture of the medium and the waste residue, warm air is supplied from the whole of a lower part of the drum, by intruding fresh warm air into the drum through mesh or punching holes of the drum, to thereby activate an interface of the medium and promote decomposition.
