Abstract:
To provide an outboard motor capable of disposing a means for detecting a steering angle with good space efficiency and having the excellent detection accuracy of the steering angle.SOLUTION: An outboard motor includes a clamp bracket (20) to be attached to a stern part of a hull, and a swivel bracket (30) arranged between the clamp bracket and an outboard motor body (1), the outboard motor body capable of rotating the outboard motor body about a steering shaft (12) with respect to the swivel bracket. The outboard motor also includes one bevel gear (57) provided coaxially with the steering shaft, a sensor shaft (52) arranged in a sensor shaft hole (51) provided in the swivel bracket and extending in a slanting direction with respect to the steering shaft, the other bevel gear (53) arranged on the sensor shaft and meshed with the one bevel gear, and a steering angle sensor (63) provided at a position opposite to an end portion of the sensor shaft and detecting a steering angle of the steering shaft on the basis of rotations of the sensor shaft, for detecting the steering angle of the outboard motor body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
