This overhead traveling carriage is provided with a carriage frame 1 having an airtight seal 10 abutting with a building ceiling surface 3 and elastically deformable on a whole periphery of an upper surface edge part; a fan 2 capable of discharging air in a space 7 surrounded by the building ceiling surface 3, the airtight seal 10 and an upper surface of the carriage frame 1 to the outside; and a steering wheel 4 and a driving wheel 5 capable of rolling on the building ceiling surface 3. By operation of the fan 2, inside of the space 7 surrounded by the building ceiling surface 3, the airtight seal 10, and the upper surface of the carriage frame 1 is decompressed, and the carriage frame 1 is suctioned to the carriage frame 1. After being in a condition that the steering wheel 4 and the driving wheel 5 can roll on the building ceiling surface 3, the driving wheel 5 is operated, and the carriage frame 1 can be moved.
