Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve discrimination accuracy of a line defect by applying addition processing to a data for each read picture element in the vertical direction, using the data subject to addition processing respectively, averaging a difference from the surrounding data for each vertical line and comparing it with a prescribed value thereby detecting the line defect. CONSTITUTION:Subtraction processing sections 13, 14 apply subtraction processing to a data and an addition processing section 15 adds the results of each subtraction processing. Then data from the addition processing section 15 is normalized (averaged) and the result Lx of the processing is stored in a memory section 16. A change with respect to a reference state is cancelled by taking a difference from each data and averaging the result. Thus, when a line defect exists, a value DL corresponding to the line defect is obtained without a shading effect. Thus, each processing result Lx is compared with a defect detection level Lmin and when the processing result Lx is larger than the defect detection level Lmin, it is discriminated 'absence of line defect' and when even one processing result Lx is smaller than the defect detection level Lmin, it is discriminated to be 'presence of line defect'.
