PURPOSE: To cope with the diversification of photographic paper, and to attain the information of the residual amount of the photographic paper, and the management and preservation of the photographic paper without troubling a user by providing a means which records information indicating the kind of the photographic paper on the surface of a case, and detects the amount of the photographic paper in the thickness direction.

CONSTITUTION: Coded information is recorded by, for example, a printing at a classification display part 13 on a package main body 10 of a package 8, the kind of the photographic paper is judged by the selection control part of a printer according to the coded information, and the selection of a print method, the application of an accepting layer, and the laminate processing after the print are operated. A residual amount detecting window part 12 is constituted of, for example, three holes, and three reflectors are respectively provided at positions corresponding to the three holes, and among the prescribed number of photographic paper in the package 8. Therefore, when the reflectors are hided from the photographic paper, a light from the printer is not reflected, and when the prescribed number of photographic paper is used, and the reflectors appear, the light from the printer is reflected, received by the light receiving part of the corresponding printer, and the residual amount is detected.
