To provide a two-way paging system.

The two-way paging system utilizes 4 local frequencies for transmission between pager units (22) and a central control station (20). The 1st frequency (f1) is used to carry a local clock the 2nd local frequency (f2) is used to carry communication packets from the central control station to the paging units, the 3rd local frequency (f3) is used to carry communication packets from the pager units to the central control station (20), and the 4th local frequency (f4) is used to carry a status or request signal from the pager units (22) to the central control station (20). Transmission using the 4th local frequency (f4), is in accordance with time divided slot allocation made among the pager units accessing the central control station (20).
