PURPOSE: To eliminate trouble with a cutter as a result of a too small clearance between a cutter device and the leading end of a paper guide, while preventing a paper jam resulting from a too large clearance by providing at the leading end of the paper guide a recess that enlarges the clearance between the cutter device and the paper guide at the center portion of the leading end.

CONSTITUTION: A resin paper guide 2 from which recording paper is introduced is placed on a cutter device 1 and near the front part of the upper end of a fixed blade 1A. A recess 3 that enlarges a clearance C1 between the paper guide and the fixed blade 1A is provided in the center portion of the leading end 2a of the paper guide 2. Projections 4, 4 formed by the recessing of the center portion are provided at both end portions, where a clearance C2 between the paper guide and the fixed blade 1A is reduced. Therefore, at the center portion 3 of the leading end 2a of the guide a tolerance is secured sufficiently to allow for the bending outward of the center portion of the fixed blade 1A during the operation of the cutter, so as to prevent a recording paper jam as a result of interference with the paper guide 2, while avoiding trouble caused by motor overloading.
