Abstract:

To provide a ZrO2 spherical body having excellent wear resistance, excellent durability and suitable for a pulverizing and stirring medium such as a ball mill and a method of manufacturing the same.

The ZrO2 spherical body is manufactured by a rolling granulation method or a spray granulation method, contains 3-6 wt.% stabilizer and 0.35-0.4 wt. % or 0.1-0.5 wt.% Al2O3, and bulk density is at least 98% of theoretical density, average crystal particle diameter is 0.1-0.4 μm and the ratio Ci/Cs of an average crystal particle diameter Ci in a region form the spherical center to 2/3 of the radius to an average crystal particle diameter Cs in a range from the surface to the 1/3 of radius is controlled to 0.8-1.2.
