To distinguish the edge of each of soil particles by dispersing them before photographing soil materials.SOLUTION: This method and system are for measuring a particle size of a soil material with a personal computer 5 by photographing the soil material with a digital camera 4 while conveying the soil material with a belt conveyor 1, in which a vibration feeder 2 is installed at a position for supplying the soil material to the belt conveyor 1, the soil material is introduced from an inlet 211 for the material of the vibration feeder 2 and vibrated, the soil material is supplied on the belt conveyor 1 by falling it in the order of starting from a small particle size through a slit 24 between bars 23 from the inlet 211 to an outlet 212 for the material, and the soil material is dispersed on the belt conveyor 1 and photographed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
