To remove further more PM from an electrode by utilizing fuel cut of an internal combustion engine.
This particulate matter processing device installed in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine of a hybrid vehicle includes: electrodes arranged in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine; a power source connected to the electrodes for applying voltage thereto; an adhesion amount detection device for estimating or detecting the amount of PM adhering to the electrodes; a deceleration detection device for detecting deceleration of the hybrid vehicle; and an engine stop prohibition device for performing fuel cut of the internal combustion engine and driving the internal combustion engine with an electric motor when the amount of PM obtained by the adhesion amount detection device is not smaller than a threshold value and the deceleration of the hybrid vehicle is detected by the deceleration detection device.
