A frictional force generated between a surface 11a to be pressed and a pressing member 12 can be adjusted easily, by inserting a screwdriver or the like inside the support platform 6 through a small hole 4a of the lower lid 4 and tightening/loosening a screw 14. A rotational load is applied to the rotation of the pedal 5 and the support platform 6, and the rotational load can be adjusted to meet a user's requirements. The pedal device 1 for a musical instrument in this embodiment is of a very simple configuration with few components, thereby reducing the cost of the materials. Furthermore, the simple configuration with few components makes it possible to reduce the cost of manufacturing.
