Abstract:

To provide a method for perfluoroalkylating a nucleophilic substrate, especially a mono/polyperfluoroalkylating a compound having many electrons by a perfluoroalkane sulfinic acid in an oxidizing medium under a moderate condition.

This method for perfluoroalkylating a nucleophilic substrate comprises the steps of bringing the substrate into contact with a reagent of either (1) or (2). (1) A perfluoroalkylating reagent containing (a) a perfluoroalkane sulfinic acid ion and (b) an oxidizing agent consisting of a hydroxy radical generated from a Fenton's reagent. (2) A perfluoroalkylating reagent containing (a) a perfluoroalkane sulfinic acid ion, (b) an oxidizing agent consisting of a persulfuric acid salt, a hydroperoxide or a cerium nitrate (IV) ammonium complex salt and (c) a catalyst consisting of iron (II), MoO2(acac)2, Mo(CO)6, VO(acac)2, OsO4 or SeO2.
