Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject pharmaceutical preparation, capable of eliminating unfavorable effects associated with the estrogen thrapy, inhibiting bone loss and having a role as an effective and permissible treatment for osteoporosis by including a specific compound as an active ingredient therein.
SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation comprises a compound represented by the formula [(n) is 0, 1 or 2; R and R1 are each H, hydroxy, a 1-6C alkoxy, a 1-6C acyloxy, etc.; R2 is pyrrolidono, piperidino or hexamethyleneimino) or its pharmaceutically permissible salt, e.g. 6-(4- fluorobenzoyloxy)-2-[4-(4-fluorobenzoyloxy)phenyl]-benzo[b]thien-3- yl-[4-[2-(piperidin-1-yl)ethoxy]phenyl]-methanone as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical preparation is preferably formulated for oral administration of 50-200mg daily dose. The compound represented by the formula is preferably obtained by using, e.g. a benzothiophene having 6-hydroxyl group, etc., as a starting substance.
