Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel compound that has the action of inhibiting simultaneously fatty acid biosynthesis and cholesterol biosynthesis, can simultaneously lower both levels of triglyceride and cholesterol in blood with high safety and is useful for treatment of hyperlipemia.
SOLUTION: This compound is a phenylcarboxylic acid derivative represented by formula I [A is a lower alkyl or the like; Q is formula II (R3 and R4 are each H or the like); B is O or the like; R1 is H or the like; R2 is H or the like; n is 1 or 2; m is 0 or 1] or its salt, typically 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-5- methyl-4-(4'-ethoxycarbonylphenoxy)methylpyrazole. The compound of formula I is prepared, for example, by reducing a compound of the formula: A- Q-(CH2)n-1-CO2C2H5, for example, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-4- ethoxycarbonylpyrazole, chlorinating the product and allowing the chlorinated product to react with a compound of formula III, preferably at about 0-50°C for 1-12 hours.
