Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst which has high activity, and efficiently absorbs ultraviolet rays and visible rays contained in sunbeams or the like, a photocatalyst for producing hydrogen which has excellent energy efficiency, a photocatalyst for decomposing water, and a photocatalyst for decomposing harmful matters which has increased decomposition properties using the same photocatalyst.
SOLUTION: The photocatalyst consists of an indium (In)-containing multiple oxide semiconductor expressed by general formula (1) of In1-XMXAO4 (1) (M denotes transition metal elements; A denotes the group 5a elements in the Periodic Table; and x denotes the number satisfying 0<x<1).
