To improve the shot noise A/N due to photons by taking into account a limit of the S/N of a light itself having fluctuation in number of the photons in poisson distribution.
The photoelectric converter is provided with a 1st photoelectric conversion section 12 that generates charges in response to an incident light, a storage section that stores the charges generated from the 1st photoelectric conversion section 12, an amplifier section 14 that amplifies the charges (in existence in a line memory 13) outputted with a prescribed gain from the storage section, and a storage section 16 that stores the signal charges amplified by the amplifier section 14. The prescribed gain of the amplifier section 14 is changed, based on the charges stored in the storage section 16 for a prescribed period before the time when the gain is applied within 1-field/frame period.
