Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform proper matching, and thereby enable the cubic surface shape of a subject to be detected by constituting a correlation window deforming section so as to be provided, which can deform a corresponding correlation window in size and shape based on the difference in position between the picture element of a first photographic image and the picture element corresponding to the picture element of a second photographic image.
CONSTITUTION: The size and the shape of a corresponding correlation window 36 is deformed based on the difference in position between each position (i1-j1) through (i5-j5) of the picture elements P11 through P15 of a first photographic image 31 and each position (11-m1) through (15-m5) of the picture elements P21 through P25 corresponding to the picture elements P11 through P15 of a second photographic image 32. This constitution thereby allows the corresponding correlation window 36 to be deformed so as to be formed into the second photographic image 32 which can be approximately considered to be the deformed image of the first photographic image 31. Therefore, the similarity of an image within a correlation window can be enhanced as compared with a corresponding correlation window identical in size and shape to a reference correlation window. By this constitution, proper matching can be performed, and the shape of a cubic surface can be properly detected.
