PURPOSE: To improve interchangeability with a code which is frequently used to express a character in general and to improve versatility.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic recording layer constituted of tracks S1 and S2 and tracks T1 and T2 is provided out of the range of an image frame on a negative film 10. In the case of inputting information in the respective tracks, one character (one byte) is expressed by the combination of binary data, and one byte is the ASCII code of eight bits. An external input terminal 212 is provided in a camera 200 and can be connected to an equipment such as a personal computer 214 and an electronic notebook 216 which is possessed by a user. Since the recording code of the personal computer 214 or the electronic notebook 216 coincides with the recording code by a camera 200 on the magnetic recording layer (ASCII code of eight bits), they have interchangeability. Thus, it is unnecessary to provide a converter, etc., for converting a code, it is easy for the user to use the camera, etc., and the facilities are simplified.
