CONSTITUTION: In this photographic image information recorder; film where the image is recorded is irradiated with light, and transmitted light or reflected light is received by a photoelectric transducer, whereby analog photographic image information is acquired and A/D converted so as to be recorded in the rewritable image information storing medium. The recorder is equipped with a cartridge attaching mechanism 20 attaching a film cartridge and constituted of a take-up mechanism 21 taking up the film 3 and a driving mechanism 22 driving the take-up mechanism 21, a winding direction read means reading whether the film 3 is normally wound or prewound based on recording information recorded on the film, and a control part 40 controlling entire operation.
