To automatically control a photographing area to an optimum area by extracting the outline of a photographing picture and controlling the photographing area based on the extracted outline.
A picture processing part 5 executes a picture processing for recognizing a photographing object from the photographing picture of a camera 1. A photographing area setting control part 6 sets the photographing area of the camera 1 so that the photographing object, namely, an extracted outline part is arranged in the screen center of a screen display part 4. An angle control mechanism control part 2 and a zoom lens control part 3 execute the photographing area control of the camera 1 based on the photographing area which is set in the photographing area setting control part 6. The photographing area is automatically controlled so that the photographing object is finally arranged in the screen center by repeating a series of operations. Thus, the photographing area of the camera 1 can automatically be controlled to the optimum area.
