Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attach a good resin lens to a light emitting region with good reproducibility, a improve various characteristics such as fiber end light output and to improve stability of yield by forming a ringed groove on a pallet. CONSTITUTION:On an upper surface of a pellet 1 provided with a light emitting region 2, a ringed groove 4 is formed through etching on an outer circumference of the light emitting region. Then resin is applied to form a resin lens 3. The light emitting region is constituted by a usual structure such as double hetero junction structure or p-n junction structure because such structure realizes a large contact angle with resin of the resin lens 3 and an upper surface of the pellet 1 because of the ringed groove 4, thus allowing small bending rate of the resin lens 3.
