Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device which quickly subjects the picture code, which doesn't conform to international standards and is encoded to a difference code, to code conversion so that it can be reproduced by a reproducing machine for the picture code, which conforms to international standards and is encoded to a DCT code, without using an exclusive reproducing machine.
CONSTITUTION: A device control part 5 controls the whole of the device. The indication of the device is inputted from a keyboard 4. The picture code in the difference code encoding system recorded in a hard disk 1 is expanded by an expanding means 10 and is converted to a picture code in the enoding system based on DCT by a DCT means 8, a quantizing means 7, and a Huffman code encoding means 6. At this time, the code conversion processing time and the processing time of the reproducing machine are measured by a timer 3, and thinning information of the code conversion processing is calculated in accordance with the processing speed of the reproducing machine. The processing of at least one of the expanding means 10, the DCT means 8, the quantizing means 7, and the Huffman code encoding means 6 is simplified in accordance with this thinning information to perform compression at a high speed.
