PURPOSE: To eliminate the blackening of a picture when the picture is printed by means of a laser printer for output for by converting noticeable data into the size of actually printed dots and multilevel picture data for deciding printing positions based on binarized noticeable picture element data and adjacent binarized picture element data.
CONSTITUTION: Analog picture signals obtained when a picture reading section 1 composed of an image sensor of CCD, etc., reads an original are converted into binarized digital data by binarizing the data by means of a binarization processing circuit 2. Then a coding processing section 3 transmits the data to a public telephone line through a circuit interface 4 after coding the data and a decoding processing section 5 decodes the transmitted data. Thereafter, the decoded data are converted into a picture by means of a picture converting section 6 in accordance with the characteristic of the output device and the picture is outputted to a laser printer 7 for printing. The converting section 6 constitutes the important section of this method and controls recorded dots in accordance with the characteristic of the printer 7. Namely, a noticeable picture element is converted into multilevel picture element data on the basis of the adjacent picture elements before and after the noticeable picture element.
