PURPOSE: To record a larger picture than a television picture on a recording medium by recording plural patterns while moving the recording medium and a recording means relatively.
CONSTITUTION: A picture signal outputted from a picture processing unit and to be recorded is fed to a recording circuit 2 via a picture input line 1 and the recording circuit 2 gives a recording signal corresponding to the picture signal to be recorded to a heater element of a thermosensitive recording head 5. Thermosensitive recording paper 6 in slide contact with the thermosensitive recording head 5 is supplied from a roll 7 and a paper feed roller 8 arranged opposite to the thermosensitive recording head 5 is driven with a shaft 9 by a driver 10 to carry the paper at a prescribed speed. In this case, the length of the thermosensitive recording head 5, is made equal to the width of the thermosensitive recording paper 6, that is the longitudinal size of a television screen. Thus, a picture whose longitudinal size is the same as the longitudinal size of a television picture but whose lateral size is far longer than the lateral size of the television picture is recorded.
