PURPOSE: To provide a piezo-electric actuator element which is smaller in size, lower in capacity and is improved in characteristics by substituting a part of the titanium of lead titanate with tantalum so that the compsn. expressed by specific formula is obtd.
CONSTITUTION: The material having the compsn. expressed by formula is formed by substituting a part of the titanium in the component compsn. of the lead titanate with the compsn. to produce the piezo-electric ceramics compsn. Namely, PbO, TiO2, ZnO, and Ta2O5 are wet-mixed at required ratios and are calcined; further, the mixture is molded by using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), etc., as a binder. The molding is then sintered at and for the prescribed temp. and time to obtain the piezo-electric ceramics compsn. for the actuator. This compsn. is low in specific dielectric constant and is, therefore, capable of decreasing the hysteresis and drift of electric distortions. The size of the actuator element is reduced and the capacity thereof is lowered; in addition, the characteristics thereof are improved by producing the actuator element using this compsn.
