PURPOSE: To attach a lid plate by an easy operation and improve sealability against the entry of foreign matters such as ducts, etc., in a protecting tool engageable with the thread of pipe end.
CONSTITUTION: A flange 11 on the peripheral edge of a lid plate 10 is held into contact with the opening end face of a protecting tool 1 and the flange 11 and the opening end face are fastened together by a connecting rivet 20 which is inserted into through holes 7 and 12. The flange 11 of the lid plate 10 and the opening end face of the protecting tool 1 are brought into facial contact and a recess part 13 at the central part of the lid plate is brought into contact with a projection 6 provided on the inner peripheral surface of the protecting tool 1 and, by these two contact parts, the entry of foreign matters is prevented.
