PURPOSE: To shorten the length of a piston assemblying process as well as to reduce the manhours thereof by manufacturing the piston for reciprocating type compressor used in the installation of compression gas production or the like in such a way that both end plates and one intermediate member are separately prepared and then assembled together by means of diffusion bonding.
CONSTITUTION: Each of end plates 28 is formed by coaxially bonding two steel plate discs 26, 27 to both end surfaces of a reinforcing member 24 in a sandwich- like arrangement. An intermediate member 20 is formed by welding the joint portion which combines a barrel plate 23 acting as the outer peripheral surface of a piston with a framework plates 22 fitted in the barrel plate 23. Both end plates 28 and the intermediate plate member 20 are joined together by means of diffusion bonding, after both end portions of a boss member 21 of the intermediate plate member 20 are fitted into boss receiving holes 27a of both end plates 28 positioned on both sides of the intermediate plate member 20, respectively, while both end peripheral portions of the intermediate plate member 20 are received by internal cylindrical wall 24 of the end plates 28, respectively, thereby to form a piston.
