PURPOSE: To exactly detect a tack-weld zone in a groove and to perform plasma automatic welding without hindrance by controlling keyhole welding conditions by a groove width detection value before attaining the tack-weld zone or groove width detection values before and behind the tack-weld zone.
CONSTITUTION: A data processor 26 controls the filler wire feed rate m/min, center gas flow rate (l)/min and torch oscillation width mm by a wire feed rate controller 27, a center gas flow rate controller 28 and a torch oscillation controller 29, respectively according to the groove width data G in the range of 0.3≤G≤0.3mm according to G corresponding to the position of an arc point in the rear of a laser range finder detection point among groove width data of a storage device 25.
