Abstract:

To obtain a high-refractive-index plastic lens molding compsn. excellent in transparency, impact strength, heat resistance, surface hardness, chemical resistance, and weatherability by using a specific sulfur-contg. (meth)acrylate.

This compsn. comprises 10-90 pts.wt. at least one sulfur-contg. (meth)acrylate selected from among compds. represented by formulas I, II, and III (R is H or CH3; R2 is a 2-5C hydrocarbon group; X is H, Cl, Br, or I; l, m, and n are each 1-5; p is 1-5; q is 1-4; and r is 1-3), 90-10 pts.wt. compd. having at least one (meth)acryloyl group, and 0.005-5 pts.wt. initiator sensitive to an active energy ray, the sum of the three ingredients being 100 pts.wt., and is poured into a mold, copolymerized by the exposure to an active energy ray, and demolded to give a high-refractive-index plastic lens having a refractive index of 1.55 or higher.
