The plate mounting structure for a rotary press comprises a winding rod 2 rotatably inserted into the long slot 7 of a plate cylinder 6, and a retainer 1 made of a leaf spring and inserted into the slot 3 of the rod to hold the gripper side 8a of a plate 8 and the tail side 8b to the gripper side, wherein the end 1a for holding the plate gripper side of the retainer is bent in an L shape in the plate tension rotating direction of the rod 2 similarly to the end 1b for holding the tail side to the gripper side of the retainer to perform the guiding operation in case of mounting the plate.
